This recipe introduces Lebanese cuisine, which is characterized by a variety of vegetarian dishes using fresh vegetables, an abundance of herbs, garlic and olive oil. Okra is a herbaceous plant whose pods taste like a cross between zucchini and green beans.
Ingredients:
- 200 g of okra fruit;
- 3 tbsp tomato paste;
- 200 g of rice;
- 100 g of short noodles;
- 5 cloves of garlic;
- olive oil;
- salt and spices.
Preparation:
- For cooking, you can use dried, fresh or frozen okra pods. Rinse them in water, put them in a saucepan and add water. If there is a lot of water, then you get a soup, if not enough, then stewed vegetables. Everyone can choose the cooking method for themselves.
- Put the saucepan with the contents on the stove, wait until the water and okra boil, reduce the heat and leave to cook.
- Pour olive oil into another pan, pour the noodles, and fry it right in the pan until golden brown, stir constantly so that it does not burn.
- Attach rice to the vermicelli, stir thoroughly, and then pour water so that the liquid level is five centimeters higher than the contents of the pan. Add salt to taste and any spices here.
- All this mass should boil as soon as it boils, reduce the heat to a minimum and cook under a closed lid until the rice is fully cooked (this will take about 15-20 minutes).
- Peel the garlic cloves and cut into slices. Fry in a skillet until brown.
- Place the fried garlic chunks in a pot where the okra is boiled. Also add tomato paste and salt with hammer pepper to taste, mix and leave to cook until the okra fruit is completely softened.
- Serve okra and rice in one plate, you can stir.
