Oven baked brisket is one of the easiest ways to cook meat. It will take no more than 15 minutes to prepare, and then the brisket is cooked in the oven for about 2 hours. This slow simmering makes the meat very tender and flavorful. The brisket is baked with onions, potatoes, thyme and bay leaves, and for a festive table you can cook it with prunes.

Step 1

Preheat oven to 160 degrees. Wash the brisket, dry and sprinkle with flour. Heat the fat well in a skillet and fry the brisket until golden brown.

Transfer the fried brisket to a baking sheet, add the remaining fat and pour in a little water. Place the baking sheet in the oven. During baking, the brisket should be often poured with sauce. When it is soft enough, place the pre-washed prunes on top of the meat and continue baking the brisket along with the prunes. Swelling, the prunes will absorb water, so as the sauce evaporates, add water to the baking sheet.

Step 3

After about forty minutes, remove the finished brisket from the oven. Cut into portions and place on a platter, garnish with baked prunes. Top the brisket with the sauce remaining on the baking sheet. Any side dish is suitable for brisket baked with prunes, but it is especially good with red cabbage salad dressed with dry wine and boiled potatoes.

Oven brisket can be cooked in foil. This dish, with its great simplicity in cooking, has an original and unique taste. And your loved ones will surely like it. A pound of brisket will require 100 g of nut mustard, mayonnaise, coriander, salt and pepper.

Wash and dry the brisket. Make 4-5 deep cuts in the meat and rub the brisket with coriander and pepper so that they fall into the cuts. Separately mix the hazelnut mustard with the mayonnaise and add the salt to the resulting sauce. This dish has one secret. You should not salt the brisket, but mustard-mayonnaise sauce.

Take a large enough piece of foil and place the brisket on top of it. Coat the meat and cuts with a thick layer of mayonnaise and hazelnut mustard mixture. For coating, you can use a spoon or a wooden spatula, the sauce should lie on the brisket evenly, without gaps. Then, carefully, so as not to disturb the coating, “pack” the meat in foil and place it in an oven preheated to 200 degrees for an hour and a half. You can check the readiness of the brisket with a fork or a sharp skewer by poking the meat through the foil.
