Finally, when cooking potatoes in pots, you are relieved of the need to constantly glance into the oven, making sure that the potatoes do not burn.

You can diversify this dish with an endless variety of additives. You can add meat, chicken, beans, barley, celery - just to name it. For example, you can make potatoes with mushrooms. If you can find very tiny mushrooms, with a button, it will be great. If not, it's okay, just chop up the large mushrooms. Prepared (i.e. washed and, if necessary, chopped) mushrooms should be fried literally for a minute in a pan with onions. Chop the onion as small as possible.

Grate the carrots on a coarse grater, sprinkle with lemon juice so as not to darken. In each pot, put equally potatoes, then carrots, onions with mushrooms, again potatoes. Season with salt, cover, and shake the pot vigorously to distribute the salt evenly. Now pour broth or water into each pot on 3 fingers and put in a slightly warm oven. After 20 minutes, the temperature can be increased, and after another 20 minutes, remove the lids from all the pots so that the top layer of the potatoes is browned.

Step 3

At this point (when you remove the lid), you can sprinkle the potatoes with grated cheese. Leave on high heat for another 5 minutes, so that the cheese has time to "tan". Now turn off the oven, but let the pots still stand in it, breathe.
