Recipe
To cook French chicken in the oven, prepare the ingredients according to the list. Cut the chicken fillet into portions. I cut each breast into 4 pieces so that the meat marinates better. Beat off each fillet on both sides.
Prepare the marinade. Measure kefir into a bowl and add 1 finely chopped onion. Add some mustard if desired. Season to taste. I add some salt, ground black pepper, dried garlic and a mixture of dried Mediterranean herbs. Mix everything thoroughly. Place the prepared chicken fillet pieces in the marinade and let sit for 30-60 minutes. If time permits, the meat can be marinated for a longer time.
Peel and cut the potatoes into slices about 0.5 centimeters thick. Boil water, add bay leaves, a few peas and 1-2 pinches of salt. Add the prepared potatoes to the water, bring the water to a boil again and cook the potatoes for 6-8 minutes, almost until tender. Then drain the hot water.
The exact cooking time depends on the type of potato. Pierce the potato slice with a fork to determine the degree of doneness. The pieces should be soft, but at the same time they should maintain their integrity and not fall apart. Grease a baking dish with vegetable oil. Add a layer of prepared potatoes, some salt and ground black pepper. Brush the potato layer with mayonnaise if desired. Instead of mayonnaise, I add a little cream (50-70 ml) and a few pieces of butter. Add the chicken fillet and onion, with which the meat was marinated, to the mold.
Layer a layer of thinly sliced tomatoes. Add a few more pinches of salt and ground black pepper. Add some mayonnaise if desired. Sprinkle the dish with grated cheese, and then place in an oven preheated to 180 degrees and bake for 20-25 minutes. Leave the finished dish in the turned off, cooling oven for another 10-15 minutes, and then serve.
French chicken meat is ready.
The combination of chicken chunks and tender potato slices is a win-win classic that tastes good on its own. And it is worth adding a few juicy vegetables and an appetizing golden brown crust of melted cheese - and you get an incredibly appetizing dish that will not get lost even on a festive table. A great option for a spectacular lunch or dinner that will not leave anyone indifferent.
