Green beer is an unusual drink and can be found in Irish pubs during St. Patrick's celebrations. It should be noted that bamboo Chinese beer, which is produced using a special technology, is also distinguished by its rich green color.

Instructions

Step 1

The Irish call green beer half-beer; they get this drink after the first fermentation of the wort. The resulting liquid is cooled, separated from the yeast, and then it is further fermented at sufficiently low temperatures. The unusual color of this drink is given in breweries in different ways; coloring technologies, as a rule, are kept secret. Irish brewers claim that the green hue appears naturally, but the secrets of the production are not disclosed. Japanese and German manufacturers of semi-alcohol for coloring most often use banal lime.

Step 2

After the appearance of green beer on the world markets, many fakes of this strange drink appeared; craftsmen simply add a blue dye to the beer prepared using a separate technology, it gives the liquid the desired green color. Of course, such a fake beer does not have the flavor of a half-beer.

Step 3

Chinese bamboo beer is a very different drink. It has a very bright rich emerald hue, so it is not easy to identify beer in it. The Chinese brew beer from a special type of bamboo, which is currently specially bred in the Yangtze River Valley. For beer, the leaves of the plant are harvested in early autumn, after which they are carefully sorted out, dried and sorted, and then an extract is obtained using a special technology, which is further added to the drink.

Step 4

Chinese brewers first prepare the grain wort, then add bamboo extract to it (in some cases, just crushed bamboo leaves are used) and sometimes the juice of the plant. After that, they clarify and filter the resulting mixture, cool and enrich with oxygen. Only after that it is necessary to start the fermentation process; for this, brewer's yeast is added to the wort. Fermentation takes several weeks, as a result, it turns into a cloudy dark green drink, which resembles ordinary mash in its qualities. Then this wash is poured into special closed barrels, where it is kept for some time under low pressure at a very low temperature. After the barrels are opened, the beer only needs to be filtered, poured into special keg containers and sent for distribution to bars.

Step 5

To understand that there is real green beer in front of you (it doesn't matter whether it is Irish or Chinese), it is enough to pour a little drink into a transparent glass and observe it for ten to twenty minutes. If the beer changes color, you see the colorant precipitated, this is a fake that is not worth drinking. If the color remains the same, this is a real green beer.
