A special form of coffee maker, which is called a "French press", was invented back in 1920 in France. It consists of a heat-resistant glass cylinder and a piston, in the lower part of which there is a mesh filter that fits snugly against the walls of the glass cylinder. The design of the lid allows you to tightly close the flask during brewing, and then, turning the cutout towards the spout, calmly pour the finished drink into the cups.

It is necessary

    • French press with a capacity of 350 grams,
    • Coarse coffee - 3 teaspoons,
    • Granulated sugar - 3 teaspoons
    • Cognac - 1 teaspoon.

Instructions

Step 1

Boil a kettle with water. In order not to spoil the taste of coffee, it is better not to use tap water, as it will taste like chlorine. Rinse the French press flask with boiling water and pat it dry with a clean kitchen towel.

Step 2

Pour coffee and sugar into a flask and pour boiling water over the upper edge of the holder in which the glass flask is fixed - approximately two fingers below the level of the upper edge of the flask. Stir the coffee with a wooden spatula or spoon, a layer of foam about 1 centimeter should form on the surface.

Step 3

Pour in the cognac. Lower the press to the level of foam and close the flask with a lid, making sure that the cutout on it is not aligned with the flask spout. The total brewing time from the moment the boiling water was poured should be 4 minutes. Then lower the press in a smooth, even motion downward, pressing the coffee grounds and thereby stopping the brewing process.

Step 4

Rotate the lid until the notch aligns with the spout and pour into cups. You should have two servings of a wonderful, aromatic invigorating drink.
