Instructions

Step 1

Make a steamed turnip. This is the simplest and oldest method of preparing this product, which originates from Ancient Russia. Then the turnips were peeled, cut into cubes, put in a pot, poured with a little water and placed in a still warm oven without fire. Two hours later, the ready-made turnips were taken out and served with butter and coarse salt. You can cook it in a similar way today, only this time in a double boiler. And you can serve steamed turnips with bacon and various pickles.

Step 2

Bake the turnips in the oven. To do this, peel it and cut into small pieces, salt, season with butter and a little cream. Then place in a preheated oven and bake until soft. Or bake turnips with apples and thyme, not forgetting to drizzle with vegetable oil and salt. When baked, this product turns out to be no less tasty, especially if you sprinkle the finished turnip with fresh dill. In this form, turnips can be served as an independent dish or as a side dish for meat or fish.

Step 3

Fry the turnips in a skillet. In its taste and consistency, this product is very similar to potatoes, so you can cook and eat it in the same way. Turnip turns out very tasty if you fry it until golden brown and soft in sunflower oil.

Step 4

Make salads from turnips, because it goes well with other vegetables: herbs, cucumbers, radishes or, for example, bell peppers. Moreover, it is better to make salads from raw turnips. Due to the fact that it does not have a pronounced taste, any dressing can be used to prepare turnip salad. In addition, turnip is a low-calorie product, so it will not harm your figure, but at the same time it will enrich the body with a large amount of vitamin C, B vitamins and many minerals.
