It is necessary

  • - 2 liters of water;
  • - 300 g of honey;
  • - 5 g of hop cones;
  • - nutmeg;
  • - cinnamon;
  • - 1 teaspoon of bread or brewer's yeast;
  • - 100 grams of water;
  • - granulated sugar;
  • - glass or plastic bottles.

Instructions

Step 1

Boil water in a copper or enamel pot. Then pour the honey into it and stir well so that it does not burn. Boil for 3-5 minutes, stirring regularly and remember to skim off the foam.

Step 2

When the froth stops, pour the hop cones into the mixture. Then add a pinch of nutmeg and a pinch of cinnamon. Stir, remove from heat and cover.

Step 3

Dissolve 1 teaspoon of yeast in 100 grams of lukewarm sweet water. After about an hour, bubbles will begin to form - the yeast is ready.

Step 4

Cool the honey solution to 40-50 ° C (at a higher temperature the yeast dies) and pour in the yeast. Then close the lid and place in a warm place (20-25 ° C) wrapped in a towel, blanket or any cloth. After a few hours, the honey decoction will begin to ferment intensively and foam will form on the surface.

Step 5

Avoid direct sunlight when using transparent dishes.

Step 6

Fermentation should end in 5-7 days. You can find out in two ways:

- check the presence of foam on the surface, if it has disappeared - fermentation is over;

- light a match and carefully add it to the container with the drink; if it continues to burn, the fermentation process is over.

Step 7

Strain the resulting drink and pour it into bottles (glass or plastic). Fill them no more than 0.8-0.9% of the volume. Close the lids tightly and place in the refrigerator to stand. In 5-7 days, the mead is ready.
