This beer is an American invention of the 70s of the 19th century. The American pharmacist and surgeon Thomas Cantrell is considered to be its author. Ginger beer is somewhat reminiscent of our kvass, but a little sweeter and spicier in taste. The alcohol content in it does not exceed 1.2%. It is very easy to drink and is a good thirst quencher in the hot season.
It is necessary
- - ginger root
- - lemon
- - 200 g cane sugar
- - 1/2 tsp. tartar
- - a pinch of dry yeast
- - 2 liters of water
Instructions
Step 1
Rinse the ginger root under running water, dry, peel and grate on a fine grater. You should make 2 tablespoons. Place in prepared pot where the ale will be brewed. Wash and dry the lemon. Grate the zest on a fine grater and also put in a saucepan. Squeeze the lemon juice there.
Step 2
Add sugar to the ingredients, cover with water and put on gas. Bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon until the sugar is completely dissolved. A pleasant ginger-lemon aroma will spread throughout the kitchen.
Step 3
Let the mixture cool, add yeast, tartar and place in a cool, dark place for 1 day. Next, strain the drink through a sieve or cheesecloth, pour into sterilized bottles, seal them tightly and put them back in a cool, dark place. Open the lids every 4 hours for 1 day, releasing the bubbles. Then move the bottles to the refrigerator for 1 day. El is ready.
