Lavash is the national Caucasian bread. Georgian baked goods are more fluffy than Armenian ones and are suitable for quick pizza. It is a thick yeast dough, often flavored with sesame seeds.

    • 1 kg of flour;
    • 80 grams of yeast;
    • 10 grams of salt;
    • 100 grams of corn flour;
    • 1 egg;
    • 10 grams of granulated sugar;
    • 30 ml of vegetable oil oil;
    • 50 ml of water;
    • 200 ml of yogurt;
    • baking sheet;

Instructions

Step 1

Pour cold water into an enamel bowl. Pour ten grams of dry yeast there, mix. Alternatively, you can use compressed yeast, but it must be soaked beforehand. Add granulated sugar. Leave it on for five minutes. Take a sieve, sift the flour along with salt, add to the resulting composition.

Step 2

Pour the yogurt and butter into the contents of the bowl. Mix with the rest of the ingredients and let sit for thirty minutes. Knead a soft dough, it should come off your hands. You can grease your palms with cold water to make the cooking process easier. Cover the container with a towel.

Step 3

Divide the resulting raw material into three equal parts. Sprinkle flour on a cutting board and place the dough on top of it. The Georgian lavash should not be thin, so roll it out at least one centimeter thick. You can simply knead the dough with your hands over the surface of the sheet.

Step 4

Grease a baking sheet with oil, spread out the dough and let it rest for another 40-60 minutes. Beat the egg with a whisk or mixer, add butter and sugar. Brush the surface of the cakes with a brush. Heat the oven to two hundred degrees, put them inside and wait five to six minutes. Take out the pita bread, sprinkle with cold water on top, set it back to bake for no more than five minutes. This will keep the crust crisp and dry as it cooks.
