In Russia, jelly, porridge, soups, and pie fillings were made from peas. Pea soup can be cooked using vegetable broth or meat broth. The soup will turn out to be especially tasty and nutritious if you add various smoked meats to it.

It is necessary

    • peas - 1 glass;
    • potatoes - 2-3 pcs;
    • carrots - 1 pc;
    • onion - 1 pc;
    • smoked pork ribs - 500 g;
    • smoked brisket - 200 g;
    • salt
    • Bay leaf
    • allspice peas
    • fresh parsley.

Instructions

Step 1

Choose peas. In stores, it is found in two types - whole grain and split. Chopped soup is more suitable for making soup, it cooks much faster. Remove impurities and rinse the peas thoroughly, cover with a little water and leave to soak. After 3-5 hours, pour 2.5 liters of fresh water into the soup pot, put the peas and set to cook. Bring to a boil over high heat. Skim off the foam, reduce heat, and continue simmering. Cook the peas until tender, at least 40 minutes. Stir occasionally to keep the peas from burning.

Step 2

Cut the brisket into thin strips, place in a dry skillet and put on fire. When some fat is released and the brisket pieces are slightly fried, add finely chopped onions to them. Cut the carrots into strips or chop on a coarse grater, place in a pan and continue to brown the vegetables until golden brown.

Step 3

Cut the peeled potatoes into cubes and place in the pot with the peas. When the potatoes are almost ready, add the vegetables sautéed with brisket. A few minutes until fully cooked, put bay leaf and allspice into the soup.

Sprinkle fresh parsley on each plate just before serving.
