Fondue is a famous Swiss dish traditionally made from cheese and wine. The most common types of fondue are cheese and chocolate. This dish can be tasted in restaurants, as well as prepared at home, even without a special fondue dish.
Cheese fondue with ham
Instead of a special utensil for making fondue called fondue, you will need:
- earthen pot or ceramic tureen;
- metal stand with legs designed for hot food;
- candle.
The most common cheese fondue can be used as a base by adding other ingredients. To make a ham cheese fondue, you will need:
- 150 g of sweet cheese;
- 150 g of spicy cheese;
- 200 g of ham;
- cherry tomatoes - 5 pcs.;
- lemon - 1 pc.;
- 1 tbsp. l. flour;
- 150 ml of white wine;
- garlic - 1 clove;
- ground black pepper, nutmeg.
Prepare the fondue first. Take two different types of cheese, sweet and salty, grate on a fine grater. Also chop the ham finely. Peel and crush the garlic with a press press. Wash the tomatoes and chop finely as well.
Take a teflon-lined pot and heat white wine over low heat, then add lemon juice. The cheese should be added at the moment when the wine starts to boil. Stir the dish constantly to heat the cheese evenly and soften.
Flour and 3-4 tbsp. l. Mix the wines and add to the cheese mass, stir. After you add the flour, the fondue will become thick and smooth in consistency.
After 5-7 minutes, add the tomatoes, ham, garlic and ground pepper to the fondue to taste. In addition, finely chopped herbs and nutmeg give the fondue an original flavor. Stir again, keep on fire for a few minutes and pour into an earthen pot.
Now it remains to properly serve the fondue to the table. In the center of the table, place a small decorative candle under the metal stand on which the clay pot should be placed. The candle will heat the bottom of the pot, and the fondue will be hot and delicious.
Chocolate fondue
To make 4-6 servings of chocolate fondue, you will need:
- 400 g of dark chocolate;
- 300 ml of cream;
- 2 tbsp. l. liqueur or brandy;
- pineapple - 1 pc.;
- orange - 1 pc.;
- apple - 1 pc.;
- kiwi - 1 pc.;
- 100 g of strawberries.
First, wash the fruit and dry thoroughly. Peel the orange, kiwi and apple and cut them into 4 pieces. Peel the pineapple and cut into small cubes. Place fruits and strawberries on several plates.
Heat the cream in a saucepan over low heat, then add the crumbled chocolate and liquor, stir. Heat the mixture until it becomes stringy and the chocolate is completely melted. Remove the pan from heat and let the fondue cool for 10-15 minutes.
Place the clay pot on a metal stand, under which you need to place a burning candle. Pour the fondue into a pot, heat a little, then fork the fruit and dip it into the chocolate fondue.
