Recently, a raw food diet has begun to enjoy increasing popularity even among those who, a few years ago, were an inveterate meat eater. Someone switches to this food system in order to be in trend, others want to get in shape, and some are seriously imbued with this idea and can no longer live otherwise.

Basics of basics

According to some nutritionists, a raw food diet is one of the healthiest eating systems. It is based on the use of food products that are not subject to heat treatment at elevated temperatures. Such products are vegetables, fruits, berries, nuts, legumes and cereals. In other words, any food that doesn't need to be cooked.

Most unprocessed foods are natural solar storage batteries. They are rich in fat, protein, vitamins and carbohydrates. With any thermal effect (cooking, frying, baking in the oven), a significant part of the nutrients is lost. Carcinogenic compounds are formed. That is why, according to scientists, animals that eat "raw" foods rarely get sick, and even in the last years of their lives can boast of a huge supply of energy.

There are several types of raw food diets. The most stringent option involves the exclusion of any animal products from the diet; with a vegetarian raw food diet, you will have to give up meat and fish. With the least strict type of raw food diet, it is allowed to eat jerky, seafood or fish.

More than a diet

Many raw food eaters view this nutritional system not as a diet, but as a philosophy of life. In their opinion, eating foods raw allows them to return to natural sources.

The advantages of this way of eating are the absence of any restrictions and a constant feeling of hunger. You can eat more than 5-7 times a day, arrange for yourself unplanned snacks, have dinner 1-2 hours before bedtime. For this reason, some people prefer a raw food diet to a regular diet or some form of weight loss program.

It is quite natural that certain difficulties may arise at the adaptation stage. It is recommended that you start with the least strict type of raw food diet, or eat this system several days a week if you are new to this business. Gradually, the body will get used to it, you will be able to move on.

According to the majority of raw foodists, within a few months from the moment of switching to this food system, their taste sensations have significantly aggravated. They seemed to have rediscovered food, and fried potatoes, meat, sweets began to seem completely tasteless, sugary, too sweet or salty to them. But fruits and vegetables seemed to be filled with new tastes.
