The cookies with the unusual name "Haman's ears" are a delicacy traditionally prepared by Jews. This dessert can be prepared with several fillings. I suggest making it with poppy seeds.
It is necessary
- For the test:
- - butter - 200 g;
- - sugar - 0.5 cups;
- - eggs - 1 pc;
- - flour - 2, 5-3 cups;
- - baking powder for dough - 0.5 teaspoon;
- - salt;
- - orange peel - optional.
- For filling:
- - poppy seeds - 400 g;
- - milk - 1, 5 glasses;
- - sugar - 1 glass;
- - honey - 2 tablespoons;
- - butter - 3 tablespoons;
- - lemon peel - optional.
Instructions
Step 1
Soften the butter, then combine with granulated sugar. Pound this mixture properly and add the egg to it along with the baking powder. Whisk everything lightly. By the way, if you decide to add orange zest, then you need to do this at this stage of preparation. Then add wheat flour there. By thoroughly mixing the mass of the above ingredients, you will get a non-sticky dough. Leave it aside for 60 minutes, covered with plastic or cling film.
Step 2
Heat the milk by pouring it into a small saucepan and setting it over the fire. Then add honey, butter and granulated sugar to it. When this mixture boils, add poppy seeds to it. Cook over low heat for another quarter of an hour, stirring occasionally. After removing the resulting mass from the stove, add the orange zest to it, and then cool.
Step 3
In the meantime, roll out the dough so that it is 4 or 5 millimeters thick. Then, using a glass, which is about 7-8 centimeters in diameter, cut out the circles.
Step 4
Place a teaspoon of poppy filling on each dough circle. Blind the cookies in the shape of a triangle, while leaving the middle open. Make sure that the edges are carefully stitched together.
Step 5
On a baking sheet, grease it with oil, place the filled triangles at a short distance from each other. Bake them in the oven at 180 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Haman's Ears are ready!
