Dessert "brown betty", originally from America, is essentially an apple pudding with breadcrumbs. The dessert is delicious, ruddy and very simple - it is made from fruits (traditionally apples) and white bread. Of course, the dish is not very suitable for a festive table, but for a family tea party - the very thing!
It is necessary
- For four servings:
- - 1 1/2 cups fine dry bread crumbs
- - 1 glass of blackberries;
- - 2/3 cup orange juice;
- - 3 apples;
- - zest from 1 lemon;
- - 3 tbsp. tablespoons of butter and sugar.
Instructions
Step 1
Set the oven to warm up to 190 degrees in advance. Take butter at room temperature and mix it with dry bread crumbs and grated lemon zest.
Step 2
Rinse and peel the apples, cut into thin slices, put in a greased form. Toss the apple wedges with rinsed blackberries, sugar and orange juice right in the mold. Take the amount of sugar to taste - it will largely depend on the acidity of blackberries and apples. Sprinkle with crumbs on top, place in a preheated oven.
Step 3
After half an hour from the start of cooking, you need to get the dessert out of the oven, cool it completely, wrap it in cling film or foil and freeze it. And just before serving, the dessert must be defrosted, baked in the oven at 180 degrees for 30 minutes. If you are not going to serve dessert right away, it is convenient to make such a preparation in the evening, and in the morning to serve dessert for breakfast.
Step 4
If you are going to immediately serve brown betty to the table after cooking, then bake continuously for 45-50 minutes until golden brown.
