In Russia, pineapples are sold in many stores, and the prices for this delicacy allow even families with not the highest incomes to pamper themselves with this tasty product. But the situation changes when the time approaches the New Year: the value of these giants, which can perfectly decorate even the most modest table, rises sharply. In order not to abandon one of the symbols of the holiday and good mood, buy it in advance: a few simple tips will help you save pineapple until the New Year.

plastic container or plastic bag with holes
Instructions
Step 1
Choose fruits that are not yet fully ripe. To do this, pay attention to the sound that the pineapple makes when you pat it with your hand: the ripe fruit sounds rather dull. Long-term storage may cause it to rub or rot. Another test: check how easily the leaves are pulled out from the top; in a ripe pineapple, they practically separate from the fruit by themselves.
Step 2
Place the pineapple in a cool place if there is still a long time before the new year. The refrigerator should be chosen only in very hot weather, otherwise it is better not to put it in the refrigerator. Remember that pineapple easily picks up odors from other foods, and therefore, when storing it with other food, it is better to put the pineapple in a special plastic container. Make sure that the container provides an air flow.
Step 3
Store the pineapple indoors if you plan to eat it in a few days. This way it will preserve its aroma and juiciness in the best way. In this case, choose ripe fruits. The pulp of such a pineapple should be rich yellow. As an alternative to the container, you can also use a pre-drilled plastic bag.
Step 4
Do not eat pineapple if brown spots have formed on its surface - this fruit is no longer suitable for food.
Step 5
Do not store pineapple for longer than 12-14 days if you want to enjoy the taste of ripe fruit. Use different processing methods if you just want to pamper your loved ones with a delicious meal. Make pineapple jam or make candied fruit for their bright yellow color, they will cheer you up on the coldest winter day. Do not forget that for storing jam, unlike fresh pineapple, it is better to look for dark places. You can keep such products for a long time, but there is one danger: a tasty treat may simply not survive until the New Year, disappearing in the bellies of your family members.
