Lentils are very popular in the East. Various dishes are prepared from lentils, both soups and pilafs and side dishes. Mjaddara is an Arabic dish. Contains rice and lentils. It turns out very tasty, aromatic and satisfying. It goes well with vegetable salads and yoghurt.
It is necessary
- - 7 tbsp. l. vegetable oil
- - 4 tbsp. l. ghee
- - 1 tsp. sweet paprika
- - 0.5 tsp cumin
- - 7 pcs. red onion
- - 2.5 glasses of water
- - 1 cup green lentils
- - 1.5 cups rice
- - salt
Instructions
Step 1
First take the red onion, wash and peel it, then cut it into strips.
Step 2
Pour vegetable oil into a frying pan, heat and put onions. Fry until golden brown. Add red paprika, cumin, salt to taste.
Step 3
Take 1.5 cups of rice and 1 cup of lentils. Rinse the rice well and place in a sieve. Rinse the lentils too, cover with 4 glasses of water and cook halfway through. Drain the water and place the lentils in a colander.
Step 4
Mix rice and lentils in a saucepan, pour 3 cups of boiling water, salt to taste. Put on low heat, cover and cook until lentils and rice are done. Then remove from heat.
Step 5
Heat the ghee, pour in the mjaddara, close the lid and fry for 5 minutes.
Step 6
Put mjaddara, fried onions on a plate. Serve with vegetable salad and yogurt.
