Wash the watermelon and eat with pleasure, but from the peels that remain in large quantities, you can cook candied fruits. The product turns out to be unusual, the original taste of the watermelon is not guessed. Candied fruits can be used as a standalone dish or in addition to desserts.

To do this, cut the thick watermelon rind, removing the dark green skin. The crust itself is cut into small pieces or cubes. It is interesting for children to make candied fruits from watermelon rinds by cutting them out with cookie cutters. Cooking treats can be fun. Next, the pieces of crusts need to be poured with water and boiled for 10-15 minutes. Then fold the crusts in a colander and cool with water. Allow the water to drain.

Then we prepare the syrup in which the candied fruits will be cooked. To do this, take 1.2 kg of sugar and 2 cups of water (500 ml). Bring the syrup to a boil, add 1 kg of crusts to it. It takes 5-7 minutes to cook. Next, turn off and let cool.

Candied watermelon peels are cooked in 4-5 receptions with standing from 10 to 12 hours. At the end of this process, 3 g of citric acid are added. Candied fruits are thrown into a colander and the syrup is allowed to drain.

Ready candied fruits should be laid out on a flat surface (on trays). Homemade sweet treats must be completely dried. Candied fruits keep well in glass jars for a long time. In this case, the banks must be tightly closed.
