It is necessary

    • Porridge with stewed pork:
    • 1 can of stewed meat;
    • 1 glass of pearl barley;
    • 2, 5 glasses of water;
    • 2 heads of onions;
    • 2 cloves of garlic;
    • 2 medium carrots;
    • salt.

    • 1 can of beef stew;
    • 1 glass of pearl barley;
    • 3 liters of water;
    • 0.5 kg of potatoes;
    • 1 can (approx. 650 g) pickled cucumbers (or gherkins);
    • 1 head of onion;
    • 1, 5 tsp tomato paste;
    • salt;
    • pepper.

Step 1

Pearl barley can be used to prepare a hearty first course and a fragrant second course, which will be equally tasty and will be liked by everyone. The only general rule for dishes with barley is that this cereal must be soaked for 10-12 hours in cold water before you start cooking. Then drain the water and start implementing your culinary ideas.

Step 2

Barley porridge with stewed pork Put the pan over high heat, put the fat from the stewed meat into it, heat until smooth. In the meantime, peel the onion, chop finely, transfer to the pan and fry until golden brown. Peel the carrots, grate on a fine grater, finely chop the garlic, add all this to the pan.

Step 3

Rinse the barley in several waters (use cool water), transfer to a saucepan, cover with cold water, put on high heat. Bring to a boil, switch to medium heat, cover, simmer for another ten minutes. Pour into a frying pan for cooking vegetables (the water has not boiled away yet), salt.

Step 4

Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer until tender. Add more water if needed. Mash the stew with a fork or cut, if the pieces are too large, transfer to the barley, stir and turn off the heat. Leave the skillet on the hot stove with the lid closed for fifteen minutes.

Step 5

Pickle Rinse the cereal in several waters, transfer to a saucepan, cover with water, put on high heat. Take a saucepan of such a size that the liquid takes up half of the container. Salt a little, bring to a boil, cover, turn the temperature over medium heat.

Step 6

Put the stew in a pan, put on the stove, fry for five minutes, kneading with a fork or wooden spatula, add pepper. Peel the onion, chop finely, add to the pan.

Step 7

Divide the contents of the cucumber jar into two parts along with the brine. Finely chop the cucumbers, put one half in a pan with stewed meat. Simmer for three minutes, add tomato paste, stir well and remove from heat.

Step 8

Peel potatoes, cut into small slices, add to a saucepan with barley, cook for ten minutes, then add the other half of the chopped cucumbers with brine. Cook for another five minutes, then transfer the contents of the pan to the pan. Cook for ten minutes, add bay leaves, salt if necessary.
