Fish is a necessary product for the human body. And even during fasting, Orthodox Christians are allowed to eat fish seasoned with vegetable oil on specially designated days. One of the ways to cook it deliciously is to stew it with vegetables and tomato sauce. The fish turns out to be very juicy and appetizing. This dish can be served just like that, or it can be paired with your favorite side dish.

It is necessary

  • - fish (hake or pollock) - 1 kg;
  • - onions - 5 pcs.;
  • - carrots - 2 pcs.;
  • - thick tomato juice - 200 ml or tomato paste - 3 tbsp. l. with a slide;
  • - sunflower oil for frying;
  • - flour for breading;
  • - ground black pepper;
  • - salt.

Instructions

Step 1

Clean the fish, rinse under running water and pat dry with paper towels. Divide into portions. Pour flour (3-4 tablespoons) into a plate.

Step 2

Take a frying pan and pour sunflower oil into it. Rub each piece of fish with salt, black pepper and roll in flour. Place the fish in a preheated skillet and fry on both sides until tender. The fish should acquire a beautiful ruddy hue. After that, remove the pan from the stove, and transfer the finished pieces to a separate plate.

Step 3

Peel carrots and onions. Cut the onion into half rings, chop the carrots into thin strips. The vegetables will need to be fried. This can be done in the same pan where the fish was cooked. In this case, the pan will need to be rinsed out of the used oil. Or take another frying pan - whichever is more convenient for you. And then the fish pieces after frying can not be shifted, but leave them in your pan until the vegetables are fried. Saute the onions and carrots in sunflower oil for about 10 minutes.

Step 4

Transfer the finished vegetables to a saucepan or cauldron. Lay the pieces of fried fish on top and pour the tomato juice on top. If you don't have one, you can make this juice yourself. To do this, pour 3 tablespoons of tomato paste with a glass of boiled water and stir. This will make a delicious thick tomato juice. Add a few pinches of ground black pepper to a saucepan, salt and simmer at low temperature, covered for 20 minutes.

Step 5

Divide the cooked fish with vegetables into portions and serve. You can also serve it during a meal with any side dish that you like best - boiled pasta, mashed potatoes, rice or pea porridge.
