At the end of summer, it is time for such a large and long-awaited berry - watermelon - to ripen. Sometimes it gets boring to eat it fresh. Therefore, you can prepare an original appetizer from pickled watermelon.
It is necessary
- - watermelon (about 8 kg);
- - garlic 2 cloves;
- - allspice 10 peas;
- - horseradish root 5 cm;
- - 1 bunch of herbs (parsley, dill).
- For brine:
- - water 1 liter;
- - salt 1 heaped tablespoon;
- - sugar 1 heaped tablespoon.
Instructions
Step 1
For the brine, mix all the ingredients and bring to a boil.
Step 2
Cut the watermelon into small but not thin slices. About 2 centimeters wide and 10 centimeters long.
Step 3
At the bottom of the pan, put some of the chopped greens, garlic, half of the peppercorns, a piece of horseradish, and a watermelon. Alternate layers until all ingredients are gone.
Step 4
Pour all this with hot brine, cover with a plate and put the load on top.
More brine needs to be done. This recipe will take three liters of water, respectively, the rest of the ingredients for the brine also need to be increased. All watermelons should be completely covered with it. Do not be afraid that the watermelon will not take excess salt or sugar.

Keep at room temperature for 2 days. Then transfer to the refrigerator for another three to four days.
