Chicken with lentils in the oven is a quick dish. The poultry is baked whole, and the lentils are soaked in spices and marinade, gradually turning into a very tasty, crumbly and piquant puree.

- 1 chicken carcass;
- 1 tablespoon of a mixture of black and allspice;
- ½ pcs. lemon;
- 1 tbsp. lentils;
- 2 tbsp. water;
- vegetable oil.
Instructions
Step 1
Rinse the chicken thoroughly in cold water, dry it, sprinkle with lemon juice, grate with zest and sprinkle with a mixture of peppers on all sides. You can replace pepper with basil, mint and oregano. When you add pepper, the dish will turn out to be spicy, with a bright taste. And spicy herbs will give it a softer and more calm character.
Step 2
Leave the bird to marinate for 30-40 minutes. If you don't have time, start cooking it right away.
Step 3
On a baking sheet, greased with a little vegetable oil, place the chicken breast-side down to make the white meat more juicy. Pour lentils around the edges and fill it with water so that it completely disappears under it. Pour vegetable oil on top of the dish.
Step 4
Place the baking sheet in an oven preheated to 180-200 degrees. To stew the lentils evenly, stir occasionally with a spatula. Add water if necessary. The baking time is 1, 5-2 hours.
Step 5
As soon as the chicken smells delicious, becomes ruddy, and when pierced, it will release clear juice, remove it from the oven, salt and serve. If you add salt to the dish before baking, the lentil cooking time will increase significantly.

A great addition to lentil chicken will be a salad of tomatoes, bell peppers, cucumbers, onions and leeks.
