To distinguish real cognac from fake, pay attention first of all to the price of the drink. Good cognac will never be inexpensive. Aged cognac at a low price is the first reason to doubt its quality.

Examine the label. First of all, take a closer look at her appearance. The label should be neatly, symmetrically glued to the bottle. Run your fingers across it (the brand label feels like a banknote to the touch). Now read the contents of the label, which should contain information about the aging period, brand, manufacturer, etc.

Slowly turn the bottle upside down and notice how the drink drips off. If there are traces of liquid flowing down it or one thick drop falls from the bottom of the bottle on the glass, it means that the cognac is of sufficient quality. The longer the cognac drains, the older it is.
Step 4
Pay attention to air bubbles that will creep up as soon as you turn over the bottle of cognac. If large and only then small bubbles appear first, you can be sure of the quality of the drink.
Step 5
Pour some cognac into a glass and twist it so that the liquid spreads evenly along the walls. Then remove excess moisture by shaking the glass and bring it to your nose. Real cognac includes an amazing variety of scents. Inhaling the vapors, you will feel the subtle transitions of alternating aromas. The older the cognac, the richer their combination.

Pour cognac into a glass ("tulip") and touch your finger to the wall of the vessel (from the outside) slightly below the level of the drink. Then look at the print through a filled glass. If you see a clear trace, it means that there is real cognac in your glass without foreign impurities.
