The fish has a rather delicate structure and requires a delicate approach to defrosting. The best place to thaw frozen fish carcasses is the bottom shelf of the refrigerator. This process takes on average 5-6 hours. If there is no time to wait, defrosting can be accelerated.
It is necessary
- - deep bowl;
- - cold water;
- - plastic bags;
- - microwave;
- - utensils for the microwave.
Instructions
Step 1
Remove the fish from the freezer. Wrap the carcass or steaks in several plastic bags so that the fish does not stain the shell during thawing, and the taste of the product does not suffer from excessive moisture. Place the bundle in a sink or deep bowl about half full of water. Turn on cold water and keep the fish under the tap until it is ready to be butchered. On average, the process takes 1.5 hours depending on the size of the fish.
Step 2
If you have to conserve water, leave the fish in a container filled with cold liquid. Completely replace the water in the sink or bowl every half hour. This method will slightly increase the thawing time of the product. Do not use hot or warm liquid to defrost fish. Otherwise, most of the nutrients contained in the product will disappear, and its taste will deteriorate significantly. Fish fillets and minced meat are not thawed in water.
Step 3
You can quickly defrost fish and fish products in the microwave. Place the required amount of fish in a microwave-safe dish. Select the defrost mode with the subsection "fish", specify the amount of food and turn on the device. Remember to periodically remove the food from the oven and transfer the pieces to thaw more evenly. A significant disadvantage of this technique is that the size of the microwave does not allow defrosting large fish carcasses in it.
Step 4
Do not thaw uncut fish to the end, a slightly frozen carcass is cleaned much easier and faster. In some cases, frozen fish pieces can be cooked without thawing. At the same time, add a few extra minutes to the time of its heat treatment. Thawed fish should not be re-frozen, this will significantly impair its nutritional value.
