All frozen foods, especially meat and fish, are best defrosted in the refrigerator. Of course, this process takes a long time - about 5 hours for each kilogram of product weight. What if you don't have that much time left? Try to defrost the product as quickly as possible.

Step 1
Bacteria develop especially actively at temperatures from + 4 ° C to + 60 ° C. Within 20 minutes, under favorable temperature conditions, they are able to double their number. If you do not have time to defrost the food in the refrigerator, then you do not need to leave it to thaw on the kitchen counter or in the sink at room temperature - this is how you turn it into a breeding ground for bacteria. Better to use quick defrost.
Step 2
How to defrost in water If the product is packaged, leave it in the bag and put it in another plastic bag. If not, pack it in several plastic bags. This way, you will prevent thawing blood from leaking out and staining the kitchen, and the water will not saturate the food. Fill a sink or container with cold water, place the packaged food, and turn on the water. Pull out the "plug" and make sure that the water covers the bag by at least 3/4.
Step 3
If you save water, then defrost it not under a running stream, but every 20-30 minutes, completely changing the water in the sink or container. Resist the temptation to make it hotter. It is warm water that will create that very "favorable zone", and the meal can end with poisoning.
Step 4
Zip bags are ideal for wrapping food that you are going to defrost under water. If you packed food in one of these bags, then the second is no longer needed.
Step 5
How to defrost in the microwave If you are going to defrost food in the microwave, remove the packaging from the food. Place food in a suitable container and microwave. If your microwave does not have a special mode called "Defrosting", set the regulator to half of the maximum power and turn on the oven for 15-20 seconds. Check readiness after this period of time. If the food has not yet thawed, repeat the procedure. Turn food over to thaw faster.
Step 6
Once thawed, food must not be re-frozen. It is advisable to cook them either immediately or no later than 24 hours after defrosting. Store thawed food in the refrigerator.
