The quantity and quality of alcohol consumed is not always the reason for feeling unwell. Strange as it may seem, the reason for the ailments can also be a snack served with alcohol.
Carbonated drinks
Most people are used to drinking spirits with mineral water or soda. However, this is strictly prohibited. Carbon dioxide contained in these drinks irritates the stomach lining, provoking accelerated absorption of alcohol. People who drink a lot of soda during a meal are more likely to suffer from severe hangovers.
Caffeinated drinks
Any drinks containing caffeine also have no place at a festive feast. Alcohol, washed down with a caffeine-containing drink, provokes a spasm of the vessels of the brain, increased blood pressure, arrhythmia, and in some cases even convulsions.
Fresh tomatoes
Tomatoes, used as a snack, lead to digestive problems, bloating and flatulence. However, tomato juice does not cause such problems.
Pickled vegetables
It is difficult to imagine a festive meal without traditional pickled vegetables. But not everyone knows that the acetic acid contained in pickles, combined with alcohol, causes an increased burden on the kidneys and liver.
Chocolate
Chocolate consumed simultaneously with spirits adversely affects the pancreas. And subsequently, acute abdominal pain, cramps, disruption of the digestive tract, up to pancreatitis.
An ideal snack, oddly enough, is a vinaigrette. Potatoes are a natural adsorbent that takes away some of the unnecessary toxins. Beets, carrots, and pickles are micronutrient sources, while sauerkraut contains succinic acid, which can help reduce hangovers.
