Cover the saucepan and simmer the vegetables over medium heat until tender. Remove the lid periodically and stir the contents of the saucepan.

Now pour in the water and bring to a boil. Season with salt and season as you like.

Peel the stale bread and cut into cubes.

Put prepared bread in a saucepan with soup, cover and simmer on minimum heat for no more than 5 minutes.

Stale bread croquettes

  1. Take 200 grams of stale bread, pour 300 ml of water, mash and add 0.75 cups of wheat flour, a teaspoon of red hot pepper and salt to taste.

  1. To prepare the old Russian bread soup, take 5 slices of stale bread. Break the bread into pieces and pour 400 ml of hot water. After 10 minutes, rub through a sieve, add half a glass of raisins, ground cinnamon and sugar to taste.
  2. A saucepan with mashed bread mass is placed on a quiet fire and cooked with continuous stirring until it boils.
  3. Add 2 - 3 tbsp. sour berry juice (cranberry juice, lingonberry juice is best), mix and immediately remove from heat.
  4. Hot soup is poured into bowls and cooled.
  5. Old Russian bread soup is served with tea as a dessert.
