Molasses and cane sugar are the main ingredients of this strong alcoholic drink, which is native to Barbados. Through fermentation and distillation, rum is obtained. It contains 40 percent alcohol, it can be either light yellow or almost black. If you have the patience for a month, you can try to make rum at home.

- 1 liter of vodka
- 50 ml rum essence
- 10 ml vanilla essence
- 10 ml pineapple essence
- 200 g sugar
- 4 teaspoons of burnt sugar
- 500 ml of water

Step 1
Switch on the stove. Pour water into a saucepan, add 200 g of sugar there. Heat the liquid, stirring constantly.
Step 2
Remove the pan from the heat. Dissolve burnt sugar in it.
Step 3
In a separate bowl, mix the vodka and all the essences. When the sugar syrup has cooled completely, pour in the vodka infusion. Mix.
Step 4
Pour the resulting liquid into tight-fitting bottles. They should be stored in a dry and dark place for a month.
Step 5
The finished rum needs to be filtered. After that, it is ready for use - in cocktails or in pure form.
