It is necessary
-
- rose hips - 100 g fresh or 50 g dry;
- water - 1 l.
Instructions
Step 1
Choose rose hips for your drink. If you want to prepare a decoction of ripe berries, then choose red or bright orange fruits. Rose hips ripen in mid-autumn and it will be better if you pick the fruits yourself. Collect before the first frost. In thawed fruits, some of the nutrients are lost.
To prepare a decoction of dried fruits, choose berries of a uniform color, well dried. If you want to prepare rose hips for the winter, then dry the berries in an electric fruit dryer or in the oven at a minimum temperature.
Step 2
Wash ripe rose hips thoroughly. Place in an enamel bowl and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil and simmer for 15-20 minutes. Then remove the dishes from the heat and let the broth brew for 4-6 hours. If you want to make a drink from dried rose hips, grind them with a wooden mortar. Cook in the same way as fresh berries, but the broth should be infused for at least 8 hours. Strain the finished broth through a clean linen napkin or several layers of gauze.
Step 3
The rosehip drink prepared in this way turns out to be slightly sour in taste. To improve the taste and healing qualities, add honey to it. To get a product richer with vitamins, add viburnum berries, black currants, mountain ash, various medicinal herbs (mint, thyme, chamomile, lemon balm, etc.) when making a drink from rose hips. Vitamin C content can be increased by adding lemon juice.
