Instructions

Step 1

When stored properly, natural honey can last for several millennia. This fact has recently been confirmed by archaeologists who discovered a container with this product in one of the Egyptian pyramids, placed in the tomb at the burial of the pharaoh. The discovered old honey could be eaten.

Step 2

In order for honey to remain liquid for as long as possible, it must be stored in an absolutely clean and dry container made of glass or ceramic. Hermetically sealed containers made of linden, cedar, birch or beech are also suitable. Of course, over time, honey will be sugared in any case, since this is a natural process, but it is quite possible to delay this moment and feast on a wonderful liquid product.

Step 3

Honey should not be left for a long time in dishes made of copper or metal alloy, which contains zinc or lead. As a result of storage in such a container, the product may oxidize, in addition, compounds toxic to the body will be formed in it. An unpleasant aftertaste will appear in honey even if you keep it in a metal bowl.

Step 4

Honey also does not like exposure to direct sunlight, very low or high temperatures. That is why it is better to store it in a dark and always dry cabinet or basement at temperatures from 0 to + 15 ° C. It is especially worth hiding transparent glass jars from the sun, since light has a negative effect on honey, destroying the beneficial enzymes that are part of it.

Step 5

Salt, which maintains the humidity of the air, strong-smelling spices, vinegar and other products with a pronounced aroma, should not be kept near honey. If the container with honey is not airtight, this product will easily absorb foreign odors.

Step 6

If honey has managed to become sugar due to too long storage, you can change its consistency by melting it in a water bath. However, melted honey cannot be stored for a long time, so it is better to use it immediately for preparing various dishes. But it is worth eating candied honey, since as a result of heating, this product will lose some of its beneficial properties.

Step 7

To keep honey in the combs, the latter should be cut into several pieces, placed in a clean glass container and tightly sealed with a lid. The combs with honey should also be stored at temperatures from 0 to + 15 ° C, in a dark and dry place. This product is especially good for sore throats, gums, coughs or digestive problems, you can use honeycomb and simply as a delicious and healthy dessert.
