Manty is a delicious flour dish originally from Asia. Many people compare them to dumplings and believe that the dishes are identical. This is partly true, because both dumplings and manti are filled with dough. But in fact, the difference between them is very big. Unlike dumplings, manti is not boiled, but steamed. In addition, thanks to the larger size of each product, it is much easier and faster to sculpt them. Basically, manti is made with finely chopped meat, potatoes and pumpkin. If you've never tried them before, you can start with the simplest option - minced meat. And if you know a few subtleties, it will turn out to be very juicy and tasty.
It is necessary
- - 1st grade flour - about 4 glasses (500 g);
- - water - 1 glass (200 ml);
- - salt;
- - ground black pepper;
- - minced meat (mutton or "homemade" pork and beef) - 700 g;
- - medium-sized onions - 5 pcs.;
- - dried coriander - 1.5 tsp or zira (optional);
- - vegetable oil for lubrication;
- - sour cream, fresh herbs (for serving);
- - a steamer or multicooker with the "Steam cooking" function.
Instructions
Step 1
Pour water into a large bowl, put 0.5 teaspoon of salt, add flour. Moreover, it is best to add it in parts. Knead a firm, stiff dough, then cover it with a towel and leave for 30-40 minutes.
Step 2
In the meantime, let's make the filling. Peel the onions and chop them into small cubes. For simplicity and convenience, you can grind it in a meat grinder or grind it with a blender. The main secret of the juiciness of manti: there should be a lot of onions.
Step 3
Then combine the chopped onion in a bowl with the minced meat, add a few pinches of salt and black pepper to taste. For additional flavor, if desired, you can put dried coriander or cumin, after grinding them in a mortar. And you can do without these spices. For manti, this is not important.
Step 4
Now let's get down to the formation of products. Prepare a work surface on the table and dust it with flour. Separate a part from the dough, make a flagellum and cut it into cubes with a side of about 3 cm. Roll each cube into a cake no more than 1.5 mm thick.
Step 5
Put the minced meat in the center of each cake (about 1 dessert spoon) and mold the manti, alternately gluing the opposite edges to each other.
Step 6
Lubricate the steamer baskets with vegetable oil and put the manti on them so that each product does not touch each other. Then place the baskets on top of the boiling water and cook for 40 minutes. In this case, the water should boil constantly.
Step 7
After the time has elapsed, remove the baskets, transfer the manti to a dish and serve them hot along with sour cream and fresh chopped herbs.
