Cranberry is a berry that is unique in its usefulness. The high content of vitamin C makes it indispensable for the prevention of colds. You can cook many dishes with cranberries: meat and fish, mousses and fruit drinks, pastries and salads. How to preserve this wonderful berry in winter?
It is necessary
- - cranberries;
- - granulated sugar
- or
- - water
- or
- - freezer.
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the cranberries for further storage. Spread a towel on the table, sprinkle cranberries on it. A towel is necessary so that the berries do not roll all over the table and do not fall on the floor. If there are a lot of berries, process them in portions. Sort the cranberries on the towel, removing debris and spoiled berries.
Step 2
Rinse the sorted cranberries well, put them on a clean towel and pat dry. Thus, cranberries need to be processed for all storage methods.
Step 3
Pass the cranberries through a meat grinder, alternating with granulated sugar in a 1: 1 ratio. Mix the resulting mass well and leave on the table. Stir the cranberry mixture from time to time. The sugar must dissolve in it.
Step 4
You have cranberries mashed with sugar. Transfer it to a clean, dry glass jar, close with a nylon lid. Store these cranberries in a cool place.
Step 5
You can store cranberries in another way. Pour the prepared cranberries into a glass jar. Pour it with cold boiled water so that the water covers all the berries. Close the nylon lid and place in the refrigerator or basement.
Step 6
Cranberries can also be frozen by placing the dried berries in the freezer tray and placing them in the freezer. Once the berries are frozen, transfer them to a sturdy plastic bag or container and store them in the freezer. Well-frozen berries, when poured, emit the same sound as poured buttons.
Step 7
From cranberries, mashed with granulated sugar in winter, you can cook jelly, compote, fruit drink. You can add it to a variety of baked goods. Use water-drenched cranberries in the same way. In addition, in winter, drain some of the water, use it as a vitamin drink, and add a new portion of water to the jar of cranberries. Use frozen cranberries in the same way as fresh ones.
