Banitsa is a Bulgarian puff pastry made from unleavened dough with curd or cheese filling. The option with feta cheese and sun-dried tomatoes is ideal, say, with a cup of hot broth, and the sweet pie with honey and country cottage cheese, which we will try to make, will be a wonderful end to a festive dinner!
It is necessary
- 10 sheets of filo dough;
- 500 - 600 g of cottage cheese (better than rustic, homemade);
- 2 - 5 tbsp or to the taste of sugar (honey can be used);
- Vanillin - on the tip of a knife;
- 2 eggs;
- 300 ml of milk.
- Butter for greasing the mold.
Instructions
Step 1
Defrost the filo dough and disassemble it into layers. While it is defrosting, mix the cottage cheese, vanillin, egg and sugar.
Step 2
We grease the form with oil, lay out two layers of dough, pre-smeared with oil and them so that they do not stick together. Top - the filling, then again one layer of dough … and so on, until the layers are over. Such a banitsa is called "Vita". The last layer is no longer lubricated with anything, but we are preparing a filling from an egg and milk: you just need to mix both ingredients until smooth with a mixer. Fill the cake.
Step 3
We send for 40 - 60 minutes in an oven preheated to 180 degrees. A ruddy crust is a sure sign of readiness! Once removed from the oven, cover with a damp, clean towel for 5 minutes to soften the crust. Delicious and warm and cold!
