These crumbly cookies, sprinkled with powdered sugar, are, probably, in all cuisines of the world! Of course, each country has its own additives and characteristics, but the basis is always the same - corn starch or flour. I suggest you prepare this cookie the way its housewives prepare it in the USA.
It is necessary
- For cookies:
- - 290 g of premium flour;
- - 120 g of corn starch;
- - 0.5 tsp salt;
- - 60 g of icing sugar;
- - 450 g unsalted butter;
- - 2 tsp vanilla essence (can be replaced with vanilla).
- For sprinkling:
- - 120 g icing sugar.
Instructions
Step 1
We take the oil out of the refrigerator in advance: we need it to be at room temperature. In the meantime, sift the flour, salt and cornstarch into a large bowl.
Step 2
Beat the softened butter with powdered sugar until a homogeneous fluffy mass is obtained. Add vanilla and dry ingredients, mix until smooth and, transfer to a bowl and cover with cling film, refrigerate for a couple of hours.
Step 3
We put the oven to heat up to 175 degrees. Line the baking sheet with baking paper. From the dough we form balls about 3 cm in diameter and put them on a prepared baking sheet at a distance of 3 cm from each other. Bake for about 15 minutes, let cool for 5 minutes on a baking sheet, and then transfer to a wire rack with baking paper until it cools completely. Sprinkle the finished products with icing sugar.
