Try this stew that combines the flavors of different culinary traditions. Oriental spices, sweet potatoes, and fruits are perfect for pork. A light side dish is a green salad.
It is necessary
- - 1 tbsp. vegetable oil;
- - 4 pieces of pork fillet, 140 g each;
- - 1 red onion;
- - 2 celery stalks;
- - 400 g of sweet potatoes;
- - 150 cranberry juice (with sugar);
- - 150 ml of chicken broth;
- - 1 stalk of ginger;
- - 1 tbsp. orange jam;
- - 1 tbsp. dry sherry;
- - 1 tsp Chinese seasoning "5 spices";
- - 2 stars of anise;
- - 4 finger tomatoes;
- - salt and pepper to taste;
- - green onions for decoration.
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare your ingredients. Chop the onion coarsely. Chop the celery into a medium dice. Cut the sweet potato into strips. Cut the finger tomatoes into quarters lengthwise. Peel the ginger and cut into thin strips.
Step 2
Heat the oil in a large ovenproof saucepan or saucepan. Add the pieces of pork and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side. Transfer the meat to a platter and set aside for a while.
Step 3
Put the onion and celery in the same saucepan and cook, stirring occasionally, over medium heat for 2-3 minutes. Add sweet potatoes (yam), cover and simmer vegetables for 3-4 minutes until tender.
Step 4
Stir in cranberry juice, broth, sherry, ginger, jam, 5 spices, anise, salt and pepper to taste. Bring to a boil and return the pork back to the saucepan in the resulting sauce. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes.
Step 5
Add the tomatoes, cover again and cook for another 5 minutes. The tomatoes should soften, but not lose their shape! Try to see if the dish has enough flavor and serve sprinkled with chopped green onions.
