This pie is from a series of pies - baked goods that are very popular in Western Ukraine. This type of pies is characterized by an abundance of filling. So in this pie, tender dough is combined with delicious apple and poppy layers.
It is necessary
- - 500 g of wheat flour;
- - 250 g butter;
- - 2 glasses of sugar;
- - 1 glass of poppy seeds;
- - 6 eggs;
- - 1 kg of sour apples;
- - 3 tbsp. spoons of sour cream;
- - 1 st. a spoonful of potato starch, cocoa powder;
- - 1 bag of baking powder;
- - nuts or raisins, powdered sugar.
Instructions
Step 1
Divide five eggs into yolks and whites. Put the squirrels in the refrigerator for now. Mash softened butter with 1 cup granulated sugar, add a little sour cream and yolks, whisking.
Step 2
Mix the flour with the baking powder, add the butter and egg mixture, quickly knead the dough and divide it in two. Add cocoa to one part of the dough, knead until smooth, put it in the freezer for a while.
Step 3
Pour boiling water over the poppy, cool. Then grind it with a blender, add 1 egg and 2 tablespoons of sugar, mix thoroughly. It turned out to be a poppy cake fill.
Step 4
Take a detachable form with high sides, grease it with oil, put the light dough into it. Spread the poppy filling evenly on top, add nuts or raisins to taste, but you can do without them. Peel the apples, remove the core, cut into large pieces and place on top of the poppy seeds.
Step 5
Beat the remaining five egg whites until frothy, add the remaining sugar, add the starch, stir and pour over the apples. The last layer is to grate the dark dough.
Step 6
Bake the apple poppy cake at 170 degrees for an approximate cooking time of 40 minutes. Cut the hot pie immediately into portions, then let cool. Sprinkle with powdered sugar on top.
