Zucchini with mornay sauce is a French cuisine dish. It looks very appetizing thanks to the fried crust, and the special milky mornay sauce turns ordinary zucchini into an exquisite treat.

- - 500 ml of milk
- - 1 egg yolk
- - salt
- - ground black pepper
- - ground nutmeg
- - 300 g cheese
- - 4 medium zucchini
- - 100 g butter
- - 50 g flour

Step 1
Place the butter in a skillet and melt over low heat. Pour in the milk gently, stirring the melted butter constantly. Add some nutmeg powder, salt and black pepper. Grate the cheese on a fine grater. Stir in the egg yolk and cheese to the milk mass. Mix all ingredients. The resulting mixture is the traditional French mornay sauce.
Step 2
Cut the courgettes into thin slices or rings. Boil them lightly in salted water without cooking. Arrange the pieces in a baking dish evenly and top with the prepared mornay sauce. Sprinkle additional grated cheese on top of the dish.
Step 3
Bake the zucchini until a brownish crust appears on the top layer of the cheese. Serve the dish with chopped nuts or a side dish of potatoes. Spicy zucchini will be a flavorful addition to meat or fish treats.
