Sometimes you want to learn how to cook delicious national dishes of the peoples inhabiting the territory of the Russian Federation. If we turn to Tatar cuisine, one of the favorite types of Tatars' pastries is vak balish. Making wak balish - Tatar meat pies - is not difficult at all.
It is necessary
- To prepare the dough:
- - 1 glass of cow's milk;
- - 1 tbsp. l. dry fast-acting yeast;
- - 300 g flour;
- - 1 chicken egg;
- - 0.5 tsp salt;
- - 1 tsp granulated sugar.
- To prepare the filling:
- - 200 g ground beef;
- - 2 onions;
- - 3 potatoes;
- - salt, pepper to taste.

Step 1
For people who do not know the Tatar language, it would probably be interesting to know the translation of this name. "Wak balish" literally translates as "little pie". A distinctive feature of these Tatar meat pies is the round shape and the hole on the top.
Step 2
Wak balish can be prepared in different ways: some bake them in the oven or in the oven, but many housewives fry in vegetable oil. Of course, the second option is not entirely healthy for the body, but fried pies are tastier. If you use them infrequently and in moderation, there will be no harm from them.

Knead the dough from the specified products in a bowl and put it in a warm place for a couple of hours so that it comes up. In the meantime, while the dough rises, you need to start preparing the filling.
Step 4
Peel onions, potatoes, cut them into small cubes. Mix them with minced meat, salt and pepper, mix well.
Step 5
Form circles with a diameter of ten centimeters from the dough, about a centimeter thick. Spread the filling on them. Pinch in such a way that the top center remains open.
Step 6
Pour vegetable oil into a deep frying pan and put on fire. Put the pies in a minute. The open side should remain at the bottom. After a while, turn them over to the other side.
Step 7
Fragrant, delicious Tatar meat pies - vak balish - serve hot. Although cooled down, it tastes good too.
