Coffee is perhaps the most controversial beverage known. Its benefits and harms have been discussed by Europeans for centuries. And the old Arabic proverb says: "A hospitable person always has a full coffee pot."
Controversial drink
In Ethiopia, the homeland of coffee, only people of a respectable age are allowed to start the morning with a cup of this drink. Ethiopians believe that young people already have hot blood to “warm up” their coffee.
Why one half of humanity cannot live without coffee, while the other is struggling to prove its harmful effects on health? It all depends on the dose. Coffee is definitely a healthy drink. It contains vitamin PP, organic acids, antioxidants, iron, sodium, phosphorus, magnesium plus caffeine.
As for harm: coffee depletes the nervous system, removes calcium, potassium and vitamin B1, and also dehydrates the body.
So, up to three cups of coffee a day - invigorates, gives energy, slows down aging, normalizes metabolism. Of course, we are talking about natural ground coffee without sugar and heavy cream.
Negative consequences
After three cups a day, coffee provokes insomnia, causes anxiety, increases blood pressure, can cause nausea, vomiting, dehydration and heart attack.
By the way, coffee shops in Turkey, Arab countries and Europe always bring water along with coffee to restore water balance and prevent dehydration.
All people are different, and the effect of coffee on the body is different for everyone. But even if from eight cups of coffee your hands do not shake, palms do not sweat, heart rate does not increase, and only vigor and good mood appear, this does not mean that coffee in such quantities is good for you. Other negative consequences that appear over time due to the systematic excessive consumption of coffee are dull hair, exfoliating nails, exacerbation of cellulite.
There are even known deaths, although not from coffee, but from an overdose of caffeine. A couple of tablespoons of concentrated caffeine powder plus an energy drink can be fatal. And the lethal dose of coffee for an adult, according to scientists, starts from 10 liters of coffee per day. They contain 10 g of caffeine, which is enough to go to the next world.
If you have an overdose of caffeine
But sometimes drinking a lot of coffee is simply necessary. Long flight, night drive. To avoid an overdose of caffeine, you need to do the following:
1. Have a hearty meal and take a walk in the fresh air. Then sleep well.
2. Drink plenty of water (for every cup of coffee you drink, you should have a glass of clean water).
3. Eat potatoes and bananas for potassium replenishment.
4. If you regularly drink a lot of coffee, make up for the lack of calcium in the body with foods that contain this trace element. Eat cottage cheese, dairy products.
5. To replenish vitamin B1, it is necessary to consume liver, cereals and bran bread.
