The famous dessert, the first recipe for which was published back in 1696, and is now kept in the Vienna library. Apple strudel may well become one of the New Year's delicacies, it is easy to prepare, has a delicate taste and a pleasant aroma of cinnamon.

It is necessary

  • For the test:
  • - 300 g of wheat flour;
  • - 1 egg yolk;
  • - 2 tbsp. spoons of quality vegetable oil;
  • - 1/2 teaspoon of salt;
  • - 150 g of warm drinking water.
  • For filling:
  • - 4 medium sized apples;
  • - 200 g of sugar;
  • - 80 g seedless raisins;
  • - 50 g of walnuts;
  • - 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon.
  • Moreover:
  • - butter for lubrication;
  • - powdered sugar for sprinkling.

Instructions

Step 1

Sift the flour through a sieve. Stir in salt to it, add drinking water, yolk and vegetable oil, stir until smooth. The dough should be soft. Then mold a lump out of it, wrap it with cling film or cellophane and leave it at room temperature - it should sit for 60 minutes.

Step 2

For the filling, peel and core the apples. Cut the flesh into small square or rectangular cubes. Place in a bowl, stir in granulated sugar and cinnamon.

Step 3

Rinse the raisins thoroughly, dry and add together and chopped walnuts to the apple-cinnamon mass. Stir all the filling ingredients.

Step 4

Put a sheet of parchment on the kitchen table and roll out the dough on it using a rolling pin, using your hands - gently stretch it to make the layer as thin as possible. Melt the butter and brush the surface of the dough.

Step 5

Step back from the edge of a centimeter and a half and lay out all the filling. Then lift a sheet of parchment on one side and roll up a roll. Soak the remaining melted butter on a cooking brush and sweep over the surface of the strudel.

Step 6

Place the roll on a baking sheet, seam side down and bake in an oven preheated to 200 ° C for 40 minutes. Remove the roll from the oven, let it cool and sprinkle generously with powdered sugar on top.
