Grog is a warm alcoholic drink with a strength of about 15-20 degrees, which appeared in Britain. It is made on the basis of rum diluted with water. The idea came from Admiral Edward Vernon, who tried to fight the drunkenness of sailors.

Each country has brought something of its own to this drink. Classic grog recipe: rum, water, sugar and lemon. Currently, even instead of rum, other alcoholic beverages are used, such as whiskey or absinthe. Instead of hot water, they can take tea or coffee. Instead of lemon - other citrus fruits, instead of sugar - honey or caramel. In addition, spices are added: cinnamon, cloves, anise, nutmeg.
Step 2
The non-alcoholic base of grog takes up about half. It must be heated in a water bath, avoiding boiling. After that, the rest of the ingredients are added, the alcoholic component can also be slightly warmed up in this way. If honey is added instead of sugar, it should be put at the end. Too high temperatures deprive honey of its beneficial qualities. Strain the finished grog and let it stand for up to 20 minutes, keeping an eye on the temperature. When consumed, it must be at least 70 ° C.

You can cite classic recipes and modern ones based on other types of alcohol. To prepare classic grog, take water or tea heated to 70 ° C, pour in rum, add lemon juice and sweetener. The ratio of the non-alcoholic part to the alcoholic part: 4 to 1. The classic recipe can be diversified by adding 1-2 cloves, a pinch of pepper or cinnamon. Coffee grog: insist a glass of coffee, add 2 glasses of port, a glass of vodka, a tablespoon of condensed milk, half a glass of sugar, heat to a boil.

Tea grog: mix a glass of hot tea and a bottle of red wine, add a glass of sugar and a glass of vodka, squeeze 1 lemon, sprinkle with cinnamon and heat.
Step 6
Multi-alcohol grog: add a glass of white wine, 2 teaspoons of anise, a pinch of red pepper, a teaspoon of dill seeds, a teaspoon of citrus zest and cardamom to a glass of water, boil. After insisting for 20 minutes, strain and add half a glass of cognac and rum, a glass of vodka and half a liter of port. Heat again, but not until boiling.
