It is necessary

    • 1 glass of millet;
    • 3 glasses of milk or water;
    • 1 tablespoon sugar;
    • ½ tsp salt;
    • 1 tsp butter;
    • 500 g pumpkin.

Instructions

Step 1

Sort the cereal to clean it of the remnants of flower films, fruit shells, pebbles and other debris. Millet can be very dirty, so rinse it thoroughly and repeatedly in cold water, rubbing with your hands until the water is clear, and a last time in hot water to eliminate the bitterness.

Step 2

Put the prepared cereal in a saucepan, pour boiling water over it, stir and drain. Then pour the millet into boiling salted water and cook for 5-8 minutes. Drain the water again quickly, add hot milk, sugar to the porridge and cook over low heat for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Wrap the pot in a towel and place under a pillow or warm blanket to rest on.

Step 3

You can cook millet porridge with pumpkin. To do this, cut the peeled pumpkin into small cubes, put in a saucepan, cover with boiling water or milk and cook for 10-15 minutes. Then add the washed and pre-boiled millet until half cooked, mix, cook for another 20 minutes until thickened and put the blame in a slightly heated oven for 25-30 minutes.

Step 4

A simple crumbly porridge will turn out if you take 3, 5 glasses of water for 2 cups of millet, and a viscous one - from 5 glasses of water or milk. In any case, the cereals should be poured into a boiling liquid and cooked over low heat, stirring from time to time.

Step 5

For children under one year old, wipe the cereals boiled in water through a sieve or chop with a blender, then add milk, sugar, salt, wipe again and cook for 5 minutes until thickened, stirring slightly.

Step 6

Millet porridge can be cooked in the microwave. Pour the prepared cereal with water and cook at full power for 4-6 minutes. Drain, add milk, sugar, salt and cook for 2 minutes. Make sure the milk does not escape. Then heat the porridge on medium power for 3 minutes, cover and let stand for 10 minutes.

Step 7

Ready-made millet porridge can be served with cottage cheese, fruits, raisins. Millet boiled in water without adding milk and butter will be a good dish for a lean table.
