To understand how useful instant porridge is, you need to understand the technology of their preparation. As a result of the technological process, the cereals are brought to the state of flakes, and the thinner they are, the faster the dish will cook. In some bags, instead of flakes, you can see powder with dried fruits and berries.

Everyone who more or less adheres to the principles of a healthy diet is extremely negative about instant cereals, believing that they cause irreparable harm to the body, but in fact this is not entirely true.

Instant porridges, like dishes prepared in the usual way, contain quite a lot of B vitamins and vitamin E, and also retain some trace elements, for example, magnesium, zinc, phosphorus, manganese and some others. Such cereals help cleanse the intestines on a par with whole grains.

Naturally, porridge cooked in a saucepan is much healthier, but instant porridge should not be considered absolutely harmful.

Despite the fact that instant porridge contains a lot of fiber and nutrients, and also has a low cost and ease of preparation, they have a number of disadvantages: due to prolonged processing, most of the nutrients are destroyed. To add flavor and aroma to the dish, various chemical additives, sweeteners, flavorings are added to instant cereals. One of the disadvantages of instant cereals is that they contain a huge amount of starch, therefore, instead of the desired result, that is, the health of the body, you can achieve the opposite: the development of obesity, diabetes mellitus, disturbances in the endocrine system and a slowdown in metabolism.

To save money and make their product cheaper, some unscrupulous producers use apples, which are treated with various chemicals and fragrances, instead of berries and exotic fruits.

If you can't cook a full meal, then when choosing instant porridge, you need to be guided by the following criteria:

  • porridge packaging should not be broken, that is, completely sealed
  • porridge should not contain artificial sweeteners and flavors
  • do not forget about the expiration date.
