Coffee and cocoa are the most popular hot drinks in many countries. People appreciate them for their tonic properties, taste and benefits, and also prepare various culinary masterpieces on their basis. The history of coffee and cocoa has its roots deep in the centuries, when they were enjoyed by the ancient Aztecs and kings.
Instructions
Step 1
Mankind began to use the roasted fruit of the coffee tree as a hot drink more than six hundred years ago. For the first time, the inhabitants of Ethiopia began to grow coffee, from where the coffee tree was brought to Yemen, and then its fruits have already spread throughout the world. Then they started selling in Turkey, where merchants roasted them right in the market and asked for a lot of money, calling the coffee "black African potion." Local authorities considered the drink an invention of the devil and punished for its sale with heavy fines, blows with sticks and even death.
Step 2
The benefits of moderate coffee consumption cannot be overestimated. Its most famous property is to tone the entire body and improve physical performance. In addition, coffee has a beneficial effect on the human psyche, making it more resistant to depression, stress and apathy. Also, two cups of this drink a day significantly reduce the risk of developing cancer, asthma, heart attack, cholelithiasis, diabetes, liver cirrhosis, hypertension, atherosclerosis, gout, as well as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease. Coffee is especially beneficial for male reproductive function, weak immunity and tissue blood supply.
Step 3
Cocoa was first cultivated in Mexico by the Aztecs, who ground its fruits with hot spices and honey, preparing a hot drink called "chocolatl" from these components. Chocolatl gave energy, strength and vigor, for which the Aztecs appreciated him incredibly and even paid with cocoa fruits instead of money. After the arrival of the Spanish conquistadors who conquered Mexico, cocoa fell into the hands of the Spanish king, who for a long time made it the drink of the elite.
Step 4
In terms of its beneficial properties, cocoa is not inferior to either green tea or coffee - it also invigorates, but much softer and safer, so cocoa can be drunk by people who are prohibited from drinking coffee. It contains a large amount of protein, fatty acids, vitamins, fiber and minerals (especially zinc and iron). Despite the calorie and nutritional value of cocoa, it never causes obesity, even when consumed frequently.
Step 5
In Europe, cocoa began to be consumed only one hundred and fifty years after its arrival in Spain, but its taste was very different from the Aztec drink.
