Brussels sprouts contain both potassium and magnesium, B 6, iron, phosphorus. For pregnant women, this product is simply not replaceable, since it contains a lot of folic acid. It lowers cholesterol, improves vision, helps with constipation, and prevents breast cancer.

After reading all the useful properties, you just need to grow it in your garden, because you grow ordinary cabbage, and this is the same cabbage, only it looks very original.

So, in the conditions of the Siberian climate, it is necessary to plant Brussels sprouts in the beds with seedlings, not seeds. We plant seeds in peat pots, somewhere in the middle of April (it’s not worth it earlier, because in Siberia, the sowing time comes later than in warmer regions), cover it with foil or glass and put it on the windowsill, she needs light. We plant in open ground in late May or early June, the place for it should be sunny, since due to the shady location, the growth of heads of cabbage may slow down or stop altogether. The distance between plants should be 50-70 centimeters, you can cover it at the beginning, and then with a strong drop in temperature, and so this is a cold-resistant plant. It can withstand frosts down to minus 7.

Up to 80 small heads of cabbage grow on one stem, they must be collected from the bottom, you yourself will see when they are ready, they will become shiny and elastic. Like other types of cabbage, it needs constant watering. You can feed it no more than 2 times; with an excess of fertilizer, the heads of cabbage will become loose and lose all their taste.

Harvested at the end of September, but can stand until November, but in Siberia, maximum until mid-October, with good weather until the end. Most Brussels sprouts are frozen, but can also be canned. From it you can make wonderful soups, mashed potatoes, stew, add to vegetable stews, experiment and enjoy.
