Sweet dates can be an excellent filling for buns or pies, give a bright, rich taste to cookies, sweets and other sweets. Combine them with different varieties of nuts - in such a duet, dates look especially advantageous.
Date nut buns
These delicious pastries can be served with tea. It is especially tasty when warm. From the specified number of products, you will get 7-8 medium-sized buns.
You will need:
- 250 g pancake flour;
- 60 g butter;
- 30 g pitted dates;
- 15 g of walnut kernels;
- 150 ml of milk;
- 30 g of sugar;
- 0.5 teaspoons of salt.
Mix flour with salt, add butter and chop everything into crumbs. Chop the walnuts, cut the dates into small pieces. Put them in the flour mixture, add sugar and milk. Knead a light dough.
Place the dough on a floured board. Knead it until completely homogeneous, and then roll it into a layer 1, 5 cm thick. Cut the cakes, transfer them to a greased baking sheet. Lubricate the surface of the products with milk. Place the baking sheet in an oven preheated to 230 ° C and bake until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack and serve.
Date cookies
Cookies like these can be made from homemade puff pastry, but it's easier to use store-bought frozen ones. The baked goods are crumbly and the dates give them a rich sweet taste.
You will need:
- 300 g of puff pastry;
- 100 g pitted dates;
- 1 egg yolk;
- 100 g cream;
- 0.5 cups of ground pistachios;
- sugar to taste.
Defrost the dough and roll it into a rectangle on a floured board. Whisk in the cream and yolk, and then brush the dough with this mixture. Chop the dates, crush the pistachios in a mortar into large crumbs. After stepping back a couple of centimeters from the edge of the dough, lay out the dates in a chain, sprinkle the rest of the surface with sugar and ground pistachios. Starting at the edge with dates, roll the dough into a roll.
Cut the roll into 1 cm thick pieces. Place the resulting circles on a baking sheet covered with baking paper. Brush the cookies with whipped yolk and place the baking sheet in the oven at 200 ° C. Chill the finished cookies on a wire rack.
Dates in chocolate
Dates can be used to make delicious homemade sweets. Use dark chocolate, milk chocolate, white chocolate, or make assorted candies.
You will need:
- 150 g dates;
- 100 g of chocolate;
- almond kernels.
Free the dates from stones. Scald the almonds with boiling water and remove the skin from the kernels. Place almonds inside each date. Heat the chocolate in a water bath. Place the dates on a fork and dip them into the chocolate one by one. Let the excess frosting drain, then place the candies on a flat plate greased with butter. Let the chocolate set and transfer the candy to a platter or gift box. Dates in chocolate look especially impressive in corrugated paper rosettes.
