This unusual-looking and low-budget appetizer will look great on any festive table. Simple products - potatoes and herring go well together. And the original serving of the dish will intrigue guests and will certainly make them want to taste it.
It is necessary
- - fresh potatoes - 3-4 pcs. medium size (about 400 g);
- - lightly salted herring fillet - 100 g;
- - turnip onion, medium head - 1 pc.;
- - sesame seeds - 1/2 tsp;
- - greens (parsley, dill) - 1-2 bunches;
- - freshly squeezed beet juice - 150 ml (1 medium beet will be needed).
Instructions
Step 1
Boil potato tubers in a "uniform" until cooked (the softer, the better). Cool and peel. Mash the cooled tubers with a fork or grate on a fine grater.
Step 2
Cut herring fillet into small slices. Peel the onion, pour boiling water over to muffle the "aroma" and cut as small as possible. If you do not like the spicy taste of onions, pour boiling water over it for 5-7 minutes.
Step 3
Take a small portion of mashed potatoes in the palm of your hand, make a flat cake out of it. Place a few slices of herring and some onions on top of it. Pin up and shape into a ball with a cone (should resemble a large strawberry - both in shape and size). At the end of the process, you should have about 20 pieces. "Berries".
Step 4
Peel fresh beets and squeeze the juice out of them in a juicer. If there is none on the farm, grate the beets on a fine grater and squeeze the juice through cheesecloth. Gently dip the potato balls-berries in the beet juice so that they are evenly colored.
Step 5
Place the strawberries on a flat, wide dish, sprinkle with sesame seeds, garnish with parsley and dill leaves.
