Pumpkin porridge is a dish that will become a vitamin and hearty breakfast for children and adults. The beautiful orange color of the porridge will cheer you up, as it looks very much like the sun. The question of how to cook pumpkin porridge is relevant, not all housewives know how to make a healthy dish.
Pumpkin porridge can be cooked the old fashioned way: in a saucepan on a gas stove, but it is much easier and faster to cook a dish in a slow cooker. With the help of a modern device, the porridge will turn out delicious, crumbly, the pumpkin will cook well, it will not burn.
To cook pumpkin porridge in a slow cooker, you need the following ingredients:
- 1 multi-glass of millet or a mixture of rice and millet;
- 3 multi-glasses of milk or water (it is recommended to pour liquids in equal proportions so that the pumpkin porridge does not run away);
- 2 multi-glasses of grated pumpkin;
- 1 tbsp. l. granulated sugar;
- ½ tsp salt;
- 25 g butter.
Cooking steps:
- Rinse the groats thoroughly, cover with hot water for 5 minutes, then drain the liquid. Stores sell steamed millet and rice. If you are cooking from steamed cereals, then you do not need to pour boiling water over it before cooking pumpkin porridge.
- Wash the pumpkin, peel, remove the seeds. Grind the vegetable on a grater or cut into small pieces. Porridge cooked with grated pumpkin turns out to be of a beautiful color.
- Put prepared cereals and pumpkin in a multicooker bowl, pour in water and milk, salt, sugar.
- Slightly above the level where the poured milk with water ends, run a rim of butter over the entire multicooker bowl, this will help prevent the dish from "running away". For the same purpose, place a steaming net on the bowl, having previously greased its bottom with oil.
- Cook the pumpkin porridge on the Milk Porridge mode until you hear a beep.
- After the multicooker has squeaked, simmer the dish on the "Heat" mode for 5-7 minutes.
Serve pumpkin porridge to the table, season with butter.
