Homemade hamburger sauce tastes much better than the store-bought one. If you don't mind spending a little time making a sauce that your loved ones will definitely like, try making a hamburger sauce at home.
There are many variations of this recipe, but you can follow the directions for a traditional BBQ flavor.
In order to make hamburger sauce, you will need:
- 250 ml of water;
- 200 g ketchup;
- 1 tablespoon of butter;
- 1 tablespoon of vinegar;
- 1 tablespoon of Worcester sauce;
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice;
- 2 tablespoons of brown sugar;
- ¼ teaspoon of pepper;
- 50 g onions;
- 50 g of celery;
- 1 teaspoon of mustard;
- vegetable oil for lubrication.
- Grease a skillet with vegetable oil.
- Heat medium high and add butter to skillet. Wait for it to melt.
- Chop the onion and celery. You can do this with a food processor. Add vegetables to the skillet and lightly sauté in melted butter.
- Add water, ketchup, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, lemon juice, pepper and mustard. Stir the sauce with a wooden spoon or spatula.
- Reduce heat to low. Let the sauce simmer slowly for about 20 minutes.
- While the sauce is simmering slowly, stir it every 3-4 minutes.
- Let the sauce cool and add to the burgers.
