Delicious fish for those who want to pamper themselves. Baked herring with onions and carrots in parchment turns out to be incredibly juicy and tender. Such a dish is suitable not only for everyday, but also for a festive table.
It is necessary
- - 1 kg of herring,
- - 300 grams of onions,
- - 100 grams of carrots,
- - salt to taste,
- - ground black pepper to taste.
Instructions
Step 1
Peel and rinse the onions and carrots. Cut the onion into thin half rings or quarters (if desired, you can also cut into cubes). Grate the carrots on a coarse grater. Transfer the onions and carrots to a bowl, stir and season with salt and pepper to taste. Add bay leaf (optional).
Step 2
Defrost the herring, peel off the scales, if necessary, then remove the entrails and gills. If you will remove the insides, then do not cut the abdomen, do the cleaning through the head. Rinse the cleaned fish and pat dry with paper towels. Season with salt and pepper on all sides (inside and outside). Place the caviar and vegetable filling (onion and carrot) inside the fish.
Step 3
Spread a sheet of parchment on the table, place the herring on it and wrap it tightly. It is desirable to wrap in two layers. Use only parchment, if you take foil, then during baking, microcracks will form on it, through which juice will flow out.
Step 4
Line a baking sheet with foil and place the herring on top of it. Place the baking sheet in a cold oven. Turn it on 180 degrees and bake the fish for 50 minutes.
Step 5
After 50 minutes, turn off the oven and leave the herring in it for another hour. This time is enough for the fish to cool down to a warm state. Then remove and unfold the fish, garnish with herbs and serve.
